A pill reminder that keeps reminding until you tap Taken
Why one notification is not enough
A reminder works only if it arrives at a moment when you can act. One banner at 9:00 PM lands while you are cooking, driving or half asleep. Ten minutes later it is gone from your mind and from your lock screen. Hushknock treats a dose as an open question until you answer it.
How the knock chain works
Every medication, or your whole schedule, gets a persistence level. Each knock is a Time-Sensitive notification, which iOS lets through most Focus modes. Every knock stops the moment you tap Taken.
| Level | Knocks after the scheduled time | Ring available |
|---|---|---|
| Gentle | 0 and 10 minutes | No |
| Persistent | 0, 10, 20 and 30 minutes | Yes |
| Relentless | 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 minutes | Yes |
After the last knock Hushknock goes quiet, but the dose stays open on the Today screen and on the lock screen until your next dose of the same medication. Tapping Taken late records it as late, not as missed.
Rings like a phone call
On Persistent and Relentless you can turn on “Ring like a phone call”. Follow-up knocks then play a 30-second ringtone at your notification volume, which is much harder to miss than a vibration. Two honest limits: the silent switch on your iPhone still mutes the ring, and the ring stays off during your quiet hours.
Snooze, without losing the chain
Busy right now? Tap Snooze on the notification for 10 minutes. When the snooze ends, the chain restarts from the first knock, so a snoozed dose still gets the full treatment.
Quiet hours
Set quiet hours for the night. The first reminder always arrives, because a scheduled dose is a scheduled dose. Follow-up knocks and the ring stay silent while you sleep.
What it will not do
Hushknock cannot override your iPhone's silent switch or a Focus mode that blocks Time-Sensitive notifications; no App Store app can. It also will not guess: a dose is taken when you say it is, and a streak breaks only on a real miss.
Discreet by default
All of this happens without your medication name on the lock screen. Knocks say “Time for your 9:00”. Read more in the discreet medication reminder, or see the FAQ.
Download Hushknock on the App Store
Hushknock is a reminder tool, not medical advice. Follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist, and never change a dose because of this app. Notifications depend on your phone's settings; the silent switch mutes the ring.
